Bil'in demo, three arrests 25.09.09

At today's weekly nonviolent demonstration against the Apartheid Wall, three people were arrested close to the wall at 1pm. They are the Palestinian cameraman, Haitham Al-Khatib (age 33), and two Israeli activists, Ben (age 26), and Asaf (age 25). The Palestinian cameraman, Hamde Aburahma (age 22), was witnessing the arrests from a close distance.

The demonstration was ended upon the arrests but some of the Israeli activists remained near the wall requesting an explanation as to the fate of the 3 arrested people. Three soldiers came through the gate to inform them that the three men will be taken to the police station where a decision will be taken.

Call to the supporters

With the Holy month of Ramadan having ended, and the autumn rains approaching, it will soon be time for our farmers to start preparing their fields for the new crops. As you know, the economic situation in Bil'in is very difficult due to the Israeli occupation and the loss of our agricultural lands to the Apartheid Wall.

In October, we will start cultivating our lands behind the Wall and in the settlement Mitityaho Mizrah again as we did for the past five years.

We are sending out this call to all of you who are supporting our struggle in Bil'in to help our farmers financially if you can for the purchase of seeds, and for machinery to plow and prepare the fields for planting trees..

We thank you in advance for your support and your solidarity.
