Tawakkol Karman chiede che il presidente yemenita Saleh sia messo sotto processo
L’attivista Yemenita per i diritti umani, Tawakkol Karman, ha chiesto ieri che il presidente yemenita Ali Abdullah Saleh sia giudicato per i suoi crimini contro il popolo yemenita, invece di concedergli l'immunità. L'attivista yemenita e Premio Nobel ha scritto su Facebook: "Chiedo che il presidente deposto Ali Saleh sia processato in Yemen per i suoi orrendi massacri e crimini di corruzione contro il popolo yemenita durante il suo governo." Karman ha detto che respinge l'idea che Saleh possa usufruire dell’immunità concessagli o essere deportato in un luogo sicuro come parte di qualsiasi soluzione politica. In precedenza, una risoluzione del Consiglio di sicurezza delle Nazioni Unite ha invitato Saleh a lasciare lo Yemen. Le news hanno sostenuto che Saleh ha accettato la risoluzione dell'ONU e che lui e la sua famiglia hanno lasciato lo Yemen Mercoledì a tarda sera su un jet privato verso un luogo sconosciuto. Lo stesso giorno, il sito yemenita 24news ha riferito che un jet privato dell'Oman sarebbe atterrato a Sanaa prima di trasferire il deposto presidente e la sua famiglia fuori dal paese, come parte di un accordo transattivo.

Tawakkol Karman calls for ousted Yemeni President Saleh to be put on trial
Yemeni human rights activist Tawakkol Karman yesterday called for ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to be tried for his crimes against the Yemeni people instead of granting him immunity. The Yemeni activist and Noble Prize laureate wrote on Facebook: "I demand that ousted President Ali Saleh be tried in Yemen for his horrendous massacres and crimes of corruption against the Yemeni people during his rule." Karman said she rejects the idea of Saleh being granted immunity or being deported to a secure place as part of any political settlement. Previously, a United Nations Security Council resolution called on Saleh to leave Yemen. News reported claimed that Saleh accepted the UN resolution and that he and his family left Yemen late on Wednesday night on a private jet to an unknown location. On the same day, Yemen's 24 news site reported that an Omani private jet would land at Sanaa International Airport to transfer the ousted president and his family out of the country as part of a settlement agreement. |
