Centinaia protestano a Nablus in solidarietà con Allan
Centinaia di palestinesi si sono radunati a Nablus Domenica sera, in solidarietà con il prigioniero palestinese Muhammad Allan in sciopero della fame, ha detto la gente del posto. I manifestanti hanno sventolato bandiere palestinesi ed esposto le foto di Allan, scandendo slogan e alzando cartelli che chiedevano la sua liberazione. I rappresentanti di diverse fazioni palestinesi hanno aderito alla manifestazione, con Jihad Ramadan un ufficiale di Fatah a Nablus, che ha tenuto un discorso a nome di tutte le fazioni sollecitando la comunità internazionale, per salvare la vita di Allan. I partiti politici continueranno ad organizzare attività a sostegno di Allan e di tutti i detenuti palestinesi nelle carceri israeliane, ha aggiunto. Il direttore della sede di Nablus della Società del Prigioniero Palestinese, Raed Amir, ha detto alla folla che il popolo palestinese non permetterà che Allan e altri prigionieri affrontino il Prison Service di Israele da soli. Hundreds rally in Nablus in solidarity with hunger striker Allan
Hundreds of Palestinians rallied in Nablus late Sunday in solidarity with hunger striking Palestinian prisoner Muhammad Allan, locals said. Protesters waved Palestinian flags and held photos of Allan, chanting slogans and raising posters calling for his freedom. Representatives from different Palestinian factions joined the rally, with Fatah official in Nablus, Jihad Ramadan, delivering a speech on behalf of all factions urging the international community to save Allan's life. Political parties will continue to organize activities in support of Allan and all Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, he added. Director of the Nablus office of the Palestinian Prisoner's Society, Raed Amir, told crowds that the Palestinian people won't let Allan and other prisoners face the Israeli Prison Service alone. Allan's brother took part in the rally. Palestinians and Jewish right-wingers clashed Sunday with police near the hospital treating Allan after he lost consciousness during a hunger strike. Palestinians had planned to stage a rally outside the Barzilai hospital, but Jewish right-wing activists confronted them, chanting racist slogans and saying they hoped Allan died. Clashes with police, including stone-throwing from both sides, erupted outside the hospital where Jewish protesters also broke the windows of a Palestinian television news vehicle. Police prevented additional busloads of Palestinian demonstrators from entering Ashkelon, an AFP reporter said. Police separated hundreds of people from each side, with the Arabs waving Palestinian flags, chanting their support for Allan and calling for his release. |
