14 palestinesi feriti, 18 arrestati in raid notturni

Mercoledì mattina presto, durante i raids notturni e le incursioni di arresto, le forze israeliane hanno sparato e ferito 14 palestinesi e altri 18 sono stati arrestati.

Dieci giovani palestinesi sono stati colpiti con fuoco vivo e proiettili di gomma, quando gli scontri sono scoppiati nel campo profughi di al-Duheisha vicino a Betlemme.

Diversi sono stati arrestati nel campo compresi, Yazan Juaidi, Omar Shamroukh così come Hamdi e Muhammad Marouf.

Nel villaggio di Beita, area di Nablus, le forze militari israeliane hanno arrestato Salam Zahi Abu Mazen, 20 anni, dopo un raid nella sua casa.

I soldati hanno anche arrestato Mahmoud Mustafa Aseeda, 24 anni, e Muhammad Yousef al-Nadi, 25, profughi da Askar vicino a Nablus, e Abdul-Hafiz Awwad, 20 anni, è stato arrestato ad Orta, un villaggio ad est di Nablus.

Il Campo profughi di Balata a Nablus è stato perquisito dalle forze israeliane, lo ha detto la gente del posto.

Quattro studenti di Birzeit sono stati arrestati nella città di Ramallah e nella vicina città di Birzeit. I detenuti sono stati identificati come Saif al-Islam Daghlas, portavoce del sindacato degli studenti presso l'università, così come Ehab Nasser Ibrahim Jack, e Musallam al-Barghouthi.

Intanto a Hebron, le forze israeliane hanno perquisito la casa di Abdul-Musen Shaher Hasouna, danneggiandone l'interno, anche i fotoreporter Thaer Ziad Fakhouri e Subhi al-Qawasmi sono stati arrestati in altri quartieri di Hebron.

Le forze israeliane hanno fatto irruzione a Taffouh, un villaggio ad ovest di Hebron e arrestato Adham Sarhan al-Tarda.

Due palestinesi sono stati uccisi e quattro feriti da fuoco vivo, e tre sono stati arrestati nel campo profughi di Qalandiya durante la notte.

Un portavoce dell'esercito israeliano ha confermato 18 arresti in totale, in tutta la Cisgiordania occupata durante la notte, sette dei quali erano membri di Hamas.

La media settimanale di quest'anno, per i raid di ricerca e arresto supera gli 80, secondo la documentazione delle Nazioni Unite, sono aumentati dall'inizio di ottobre a seguito di una escalation di violenza che ha continuato anche nel mese di dicembre.

Ben oltre 2.000 palestinesi sono stati arrestati tra ottobre e novembre, secondo la Società dei prigionieri palestinesi. Il gruppo dice che i detenuti sono molto spesso familiari di coloro che sono coinvolti in attacchi o dimostrazioni contro le forze e i coloni israeliani, questo segna un nuovo trend per gli arresti.

Human Rights Watch lo scorso anno ha criticato Israele per le violazioni su larga scala effettuati durante le campagne di arresto. Violazioni in cui sono compresi gli arresti arbitrari, l’uso eccessivo della forza contro i residenti che non costituiscono una minaccia sufficiente per l'uso letale della forza, e danni alle proprietà e case.

14 Palestinians shot, 18 detained in overnight raids

Israeli forces early Wednesday shot and injured 14 Palestinians and detained 18 others in overnight search and arrest raids, locals and Israel’s army said.

Ten Palestinian youths were shot with live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets when clashes broke out in al-Duheisha refugee camp near Bethlehem, locals told Ma’an.

Several were detained from the camp including Yazan Juaidi, Omar Shamroukh as well as Hamdi and Muhammad Marouf.

In the Nablus-area village of Beita Israeli military forces detained Salam Zahi abu Mazen, 20, after raiding his home, locals said.

Soldiers also detained Mahmoud Mustafa Aseeda, 24, and Muhammad Yousef al-Nadi, 25, from the Askar refugee near Nablus, and  Abdul-Hafiz Awwad, 20, was detained from Orta village east of Nablus.

Nablus’ Balata refugee camp was also raided by Israeli forces, locals added.

Four students from Birzeit University were detained from the city of Ramallah and neighboring town of Birzeit. The detainees were identified as Saif al-Islam Daghlas, speaker of the students' union at the university, as well as Ehab Nasser, Ibrahim Jack, and Musallam al-Barghouthi.

Meanwhile in Hebron, Israeli forces ransacked the home of Abdul-Musen Shaher Hasouna, damaging the interior, before photojournalist Thaer Ziad Fakhouri and Subhi al-Qawasmi were detained from other Hebron neighborhoods.

Israeli forces raided Taffouh village west of Hebron and detained Adham Sarhan al-Tarda, locals added.

Two Palestinians were killed, four injured by live fire, and three were detained in the Qalandiya refugee camp overnight Wednesday, according to locals.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed 18 total detentions throughout the occupied West Bank overnight Wednesday, seven of whom were “Hamas operatives.”

Search and arrest raids -- this year’s weekly average numbering over 80 according to UN documentation -- have increased since the beginning of October following an escalation of violence that has continued well into December.

Well over 2,000 Palestinians were detained during October and November, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society.  

The group says that detainees include high rates of family members of those involved in attacks or demonstrations against Israeli forces and settlers, marking a new trend in who authorities are targeting for arrest.

Human Rights Watch last year criticized Israel for large-scale violations carried out during arrest campaigns. Violations included arbitrary arrest, excessive use of force against residents who did not pose sufficient threat for the lethal use of force, and damage to property and homes.
