Un giovane tibetano scompare dopo l'arresto da parte della polizia cinese durante una protesta solitaria
Il vent’enne tibetano è stato arrestato dalla polizia cinese come ha messo in scena una protesta solitaria di strada nella città della Contea di Serta, nella provincia di Sichuan 5 gennaio. La sua sorte è rimasta sconosciuta da allora, ha riferito il 16 febbraio il servizio tibetano di Radio Free Asia basato a Washington, citando un monaco ex prigioniero tibetano che ora vive in esilio. Diversi rapporti hanno detto il giovane, che si chiama Sonam Tashi, aveva gridato per il ritorno a casa del leader spirituale in esilio del Tibet, il Dalai Lama e la libertà in Tibet. Egli ha anche gridato preghiere di lunga vita per il Dalai Lama. "Mentre marciava, ha gettato volantini in aria e chiamato per la libertà del Tibet e la lunga vita del leader spirituale in esilio, il Dalai Lama,"RFA ha citato Golog Jigme, che parlava dalla Svizzera. Egli ha aggiunto che il giovane è stato rapidamente sopraffatto dalla polizia cinese. I rapporti dicono che la famiglia di Sonam Tashi ha cercato freneticamente di ottenere informazioni su dove si trovasse, ma senza successo. Le autorità si rifiutano di dire loro di lui, ne dove si trovi ne le sue condizioni fisiche. La protesta del giovane ha avuto luogo in un momento in cui le autorità cinesi avevano notevolmente rafforzato la sicurezza, anche con le truppe aggiuntive, in vista dei festival tibetani sensibili e le ricorrenze come il nuovo anno tibetano ed il 10 marzo, anniversario della Rivolta Nazionale Tibetana.

Tibetan youth disappears after arrest by Chinese police during lone protest
A 20-year-old Tibetan youth was arrested by Chinese Police as he staged a lone street protest in the Serta County town of Sichuan Province on Jan 5. His whereabouts has remained unknown ever since, reported the Tibetan Service of Radio Free Asia (RFA, Washington) Feb 16, citing a former Tibetan monk prisoner who now lives in exile. Several reports said the youth, named as Sonam Tashi, had shouted for the return home of Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama and freedom in Tibet. He also shouted prayers for long life for the Dalai Lama. “As he marched, he threw leaflets in the air and called out for freedom for Tibet and the long life of [exiled spiritual leader] the Dalai Lama,” RFA quoted Golog Jigme as saying, speaking from Switzerland. He has added that the youth was quickly taken down by the Chinese police. Reports say Sonam Tashi’s family tried frantically to get information on his whereabouts but without success. The authorities refuse to tell them anything about him, including his conditions and whereabouts. The youth’s protest took place at a time when the Chinese authorities had greatly strengthened security, including with additional deployment troops, ahead of sensitive Tibetan festivals and anniversaries such as the Tibetan New Year and the Mar 10 Tibetan National Uprising Day.
