tibettruth.com - May 3, 2017 - Now confirmed that a sixteen year-old Tibetan male, named as Mr Chagdor Kyab from Bora Amdo, self-immolated in the vicinity of the local monastery, shouting, (according to a source quoted by Radio Free Asia) “Tibet wants freedom” and “Let His Holiness the Dalai Lama come back to Tibet”while engulfed by flames, It remains unclear if he survived, as he was swiftly taken away by Chinese paramilitary. A report from VOA Tibetan today confirmed that an as yet unidentified Tibetan man self-immolated  on May 2nd in Bora, a town within Tibet’s Amdo region. According to sources he was swiftly taken away, leaving it is reported people in the town unaware that the protest took place. We shall post further details as they emerge.

voatibetanenglish.com - 03.05.2017 - VOA Tibetan has confirmed that a young Tibetan male carried out a self-immolation in Bora, a town in the Tibetan region of Gansu Province yesterday, May 2, 2017. Sources confirming the protest say that the person was taken away within minutes and that even as of tonight, more than 24 hours after the incidence, most people in Bora are unaware that a self-immolation took place. The identity of the man and whether he had stated any reasons for his act is unknown at present.

A Tibetan youth has reportedly set himself ablaze on Tuesday May 2 in Tibet's Bora County, according to the Voice of America. 

Two sources have confirmed that a self immolation did take place in Bora on May 2 but details as to the name, age and other information are unavailable. It is also not known where the self immolator is held or if he is currently alive or dead.  

Due to strict monitoring of communication in the region, it is difficult to verify the information. The Chinese government authorities have beefed up surveillance and monitoring making it difficult for any information about the incident to get out of the area. 

Many residents of Bora County are not aware of the self immolation because the Chinese patrol on the streets reacted swiftly to remove all traces of a self immolation. 

The self immolation in Bora is the 149th by a Tibetan in Tibet since 2009.
