L'ONU condanna Israele per l'uso eccessivo della forza contro i palestinesi

Le Nazioni Unite hanno denunciato con forza Israele per l'utilizzo di "uso eccessivo della forza" per frenare la rivolta palestinese in corso attraverso le terre occupate.

Cecile Pouilly, portavoce per l'ufficio dei diritti umani delle Nazioni Unite, Martedì ha avvertito che "la risposta da parte delle forze di sicurezza israeliane ha portato i presunti aggressori, manifestanti e persino gli astanti ad essere uccisi e feriti. Abbiamo ancora una volta una profonda preoccupazione per le notizie di uso eccessivo della forza da parte delle forze israeliane", ha detto.

L'alto funzionario delle Nazioni Unite ha chiesto che un'indagine indipendente sulle uccisione di tutti i palestinesi da parte delle forze israeliane.

Pouilly ha anche ribadito che "tutte le istanze del ricorso alla forza con conseguente morte o lesioni da agenti delle forze dell'ordine devono essere oggetto di indagini immediate, indipendenti e imparziali."

Il funzionario Onu ha anche avvertito Israele che "demolizioni punitive di case palestinesi e la ritenzione dei corpi di presunti aggressori dalle loro famiglie non possono che aggravare questa situazione."

Negli ultimi mesi, le forze israeliane hanno distrutto le case famigliari di diversi palestinesi con l'accusa di aver attaccato gli israeliani.

"Continuiamo ad essere seriamente preoccupati per la violenza implacabile nei Territori palestinesi occupati e in Israele", ha detto Pouilly, aggiungendo: "Facciamo appello a entrambi i leader israeliani e palestinesi ad agire con decisione per disinnescare la situazione."

Lunedi, anche il presidente palestinese Mahmoud Abbas ha accusato l'escalation delle tensioni nei territori palestinesi occupati, una continua aggressione di Israele e delle sue attività di insediamento illegale. L’imposizione di restrizioni nel mese di agosto per l'ingresso dei fedeli palestinesi alla spianata della moschea di al-Aqsa, è diventato il parafulmine per l'ondata dei recenti scontri.

I palestinesi sono arrabbiati per la crescente violenza da parte dei coloni israeliani presso la moschea di al-Aqsa e per i loro attacchi contro proprietà palestinesi, accusando Israele di voler cambiare lo status quo del monte del tempio.

Più di 120 palestinesi sono stati uccisi nella recente escalation di violenza dall'inizio di ottobre. Quasi 20 israeliani sono stati uccisi anche negli scontri.

UN condemns Israel’s ‘excessive use of force' against Palestinians

The United Nations has strongly denounced Israel for using "excessive use of force" to curb the ongoing Palestinian uprising across the occupied lands. 

Cecile Pouilly, spokeswoman for the UN human rights office, on Tuesday warned that "the response from Israeli security forces has resulted in alleged attackers, protesters and even bystanders being killed and injured."

"We again voice deep concern over reports of excessive use of force by Israeli forces,” she said.

The senior UN rights official demanded an independent investigation into killing of all Palestinians by Israeli forces.

Pouilly also reiterated that "all instances of the use of force resulting in death or injury by law enforcement officers should be the subject of prompt, independent and impartial investigations."

The UN official also warned Israel that "punitive demolitions of Palestinian houses and the withholding of bodies of alleged attackers from their families can only aggravate this situation."

In recent months, Israeli forces have destroyed the family homes of several Palestinians for allegedly attacking Israelis.

"We continue to be gravely concerned at the unrelenting violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and in Israel," Pouilly said, adding, "We call on both Israeli and Palestinian leaders to act decisively to de-escalate the situation."

Also on Monday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas blamed the escalation of tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories on Israel’s continued aggression and its illegal settlement activities.

Israel’s imposition of restrictions in August on the entry of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) has become the lightning rod for the surge of recent confrontations.

Palestinians are angry at growing violence by Israeli settlers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound and their attacks on Palestinian properties, saying Israel seeks to change the status quo of the compound. 

More than 120 Palestinians have been killed in the recent escalation of violence since the start of October. Nearly 20 Israelis have also been killed in the clashes.
