Il Vaticano firma il primo trattato con lo Stato di Palestina
Venerdì il Vaticano ha firmato il suo primo trattato con lo Stato di Palestina, riconoscendo così la sua sovranità. Lo storico accordo siglato Venerdì presso il Palazzo Apostolico Vaticano è il primo tra la Santa Sede e la Palestina, in cui il Vaticano ha usato il termine "Stato di Palestina" a febbraio 2013, tre mesi dopo la risoluzione dell'Assemblea generale delle Nazioni Unite che ha riconosciuto la Palestina come un non membro Stato osservatore alle Nazioni Unite "Si tratta di aspetti essenziali della vita e dell'attività della Chiesa cattolica nello Stato di Palestina, nel ribadire il sostegno per una soluzione negoziata e pacifica della situazione nella regione", ha detto una dichiarazione congiunta delle parti firmatarie pubblicato dall’Ufficio Stampa Vaticano nel pomeriggio di Venerdì. Il trattato è stato firmato dal Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati mons. Paul Richard Gallagher, a nome della Santa Sede e il ministro degli Esteri Riad Al-Maliki per la "Stato di Palestina". La dichiarazione ha sottolineato che le fondamenta dell’accordo erano state previste dall'accordo base tra Vaticano e l'Organizzazione per la Liberazione della Palestina (OLP) il 15 Febbraio 2000. La stesura del documento trattato è stato concluso il 13 maggio. Composto da un preambolo e 32 articoli distribuiti in otto capitoli, il trattato entrerà in vigore quando entrambe le parti si notificano reciprocamente per iscritto che sono stati rispettati i requisiti legislativi costituzionali o interni. Nel mese di ottobre 2014, la Svezia è stata l'ultimo paese a riconoscere ufficialmente la Palestina come stato.

Vatican signs first treaty with State of Palestine
The Vatican has signed its first comprehensive treaty with the "State of Palestine" on Friday, thus recognizing its statehood. The historic accord inked on Friday at the Vatican Apostolic Palace is the first between the Holy See and Palestine since Vatican used the term "State of Palestine" in February 2013, three months after the United Nations General Assembly Resolution recognized it as a non-member observer state at the U.N. "It deals with essential aspects of the life and activity of the Catholic Church in the State of Palestine, while reaffirming support for a negotiated and peaceful resolution of the situation in the region," said a joint statement from the signatory parties released by Vatican Press Office on Friday afternoon. The treaty was signed by Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher on behalf of the Holy See and Minister of Foreign Affairs Riad Al-Maliki for the "State of Palestine". The statement stressed that the foundations of the accord had been laid by the Basic Agreement between Vatican and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on February 15, 2000. The drafting of the treaty document was finalized on May 13. Comprised of a preamble and 32 articles distributed in eight chapters, the treaty will enter into force when both parties notify each other in writing that the constitutional or internal legislative requirements have been met. In October 2014, Sweden became the latest country to officially recognize Palestine as a state. |
