Durante una manifestazione pacifica a Hebron esplodono feroci scontri, 3 morti e 10 feriti

Le forze israeliane hanno sparato e ferito almeno 10 palestinesi, con proiettili veri a Hebron durante una marcia per protestare contro il rifiuto di Israele di rilasciare i corpi di 11 palestinesi uccisi a Hebron all'inizio di questo mese, durante feroci scontri.

La marcia è stata richiesta dalle fazioni palestinesi in tutto il distretto di Hebron, ed è partita dalla moschea di al-Haras verso Bab al-Zawiya nel centro di Hebron.

Un giornalista di Ma'an ha detto che una volta lì, le forze israeliane hanno aggredito decine di palestinesi, tra cui i familiari delle 11 vittime i cui corpi sono ancora in mano a Israele.

Le forze israeliane hanno sparato proiettili veri e d’acciaio gommato, così come gas lacrimogeni e granate stordenti, mentre i giovani palestinesi hanno risposto lanciando pietre.

Il gruppo di attivisti dell’International Solidarity Movement ha riferito: "E' stata una manifestazione pacifica, in realtà solo applausi e bandiere poi, all'improvviso, tutto è andato in fiamme."

Il Dr. Walid Zalloum, direttore dell'ospedale governativo di Hebron, ha detto a Ma'an che almeno 10 palestinesi, sono stati portati in ospedale con ferite da arma da fuoco. Ha aggiunto che tre sono stati uccisi con proiettili di gomma, mentre decine di altri avevano sofferto l’eccessiva inalazione di gas lacrimogeni. "Le nostre squadre stanno trattando ogni caso di conseguenza", ha detto.

Il "raduno della rabbia" è stato chiamato per protestare contro la decisione di Israele di trattenere i corpi di 11 palestinesi fucilati dalle forze israeliane all'inizio di questo mese.

Decine di funzionari locali e i leader di spicco delle comunità hanno marciato alla testa della manifestazione. Poco prima che scoppiassero gli scontri, questi leader hanno avvicinato i soldati israeliani a un checkpoint militare che chiude Shuhada street da Bab al-Zawiya e hanno chiesto il rilascio dei "martiri". I soldati israeliani, come riferito, hanno detto loro di attendere l'arrivo dei funzionari dell'Amministrazione Civile israeliana in modo da poter fare la richiesta a loro.

Dall'inizio di ottobre, 18 palestinesi sono stati uccisi dalle forze israeliane in tutto il distretto di Hebron, tra i quali cinque bambini. 10 shot, injured as Hebron rally erupts into fierce clashes

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces shot and injured at least 10 Palestinians with live rounds in Hebron as a march protesting Israel's refusal to release the bodies of 11 Palestinians shot dead in Hebron earlier this month erupted into fierce clashes.

The march was called for by Palestinian factions across Hebron district, and set off from the al-Haras mosque toward Bab al-Zawiya in Hebron's city center.

A Ma'an reporter said that once there, Israeli forces assaulted dozens of Palestinians, including family members of the 11 Palestinians whose bodies Israel is still holding.

Israeli forces fired live and rubber-coated steel rounds, as well as tear gas canisters and stun grenades, while Palestinian youths responded by hurling stones.

The activist group International Solidarity Movement reported: "It was a peaceful demonstration, really just clapping and with flags, and suddenly everything was on fire."

Dr. Walid Zalloum, director of Hebron's governmental hospital, told Ma'an that at least 10 Palestinians had been brought to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

He said another three had been shot with rubber-coated steel bullets, while dozens more had suffered excessive tear gas inhalation.

"Our crews are treating each case accordingly," he said.

The "rally of anger" was called to protest Israel's decision to withhold the bodies of 11 Palestinians shot dead by Israeli forces earlier this month.

Dozens of local officials and prominent community leaders marched at the front of the demonstration.

Shortly before clashes erupted, these leaders approached Israeli soldiers at a military checkpoint that seals off Shuhada street from Bab al-Zawiya and demanded the release of the "martyrs."

Israeli soldiers reportedly told them to await the arrival of Israeli Civil Administration officers so they could make their request to them.

Since the beginning of October, 18 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces across Hebron district -- including five children.

The majority were shot dead in Hebron city -- the highest death toll outside of Jerusalem -- in most cases after they allegedly they attempted to carry out stabbing attacks on Israelis.

Earlier this month, Israel's security cabinet announced that the bodies of Palestinians shot dead by Israeli forces after carrying out attacks on Israeli citizens would no longer be returned to their families.

While Palestinians agree that several of those killed in Hebron were attempting to carry out knife attacks when they were shot, video footage and witness testimonies have raised serious questions over Israel's allegations in many of the other cases.
